Yesterday, the committee people of the 96th voted on a candidate for nomination to replace Rep. Mike Sturla on the ballot after his withdrawal. After being nominated by the Mayor of East Petersburg, James Andrew Malone, and seconded by Mayor of Lancaster, Danene Sorace, the committee voted unanimously to recommend Niki Rivera to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party as the new candidate. She was later approved by the PA Democratic Party become the official candidate Nikki Rivera

Representative Mike Sturla of House District 96 and Representative Izzy Smith Wade-El of House District 49 endorse Nikki Rivera, candidate for House District 96 "I think the constituents of the 96th that know her are happy and anyone that doesn't know her will be happy when they get to know her,” Sturla said to LancasterOnline about Nikki Rivera.
